- Sarah Palin....
What else can I say?
I don't know how anyone can look at this woman, listen to her gibberish, and possibly think that this woman could potentially be President of the United States.
- The woman cannot even speak coherent sentences. Here's an example:
"Oil and coal? Of course, it's a fungible commodity and they don't flag, you know, the molecules, where it's going and where it's not. But in the sense of the Congress today, they know that there are very, very hungry domestic markets that need that oil first. So, I believe that what Congress is going to do, also, is not to allow the export bans to such a degree that it's Americans that get stuck to holding the bag without the energy source that is produced here, pumped here. It's got to flow into our domestic markets first." --Sarah Palin, billed by John McCain as the nation's foremost expert on energy, clumsily answering a question while speaking off the cuff at a town hall meeting, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Sept. 17, 2008
- She's either a liar or clueless because she thinks that she was cleared in the Troopergate scandal:
"I'm very, very pleased to be cleared of any legal wrongdoing ... any hint of any kind of unethical activity there. Very pleased to be cleared of any of that." --Sarah Palin, after an Alaska legislative report found she had broken the state's ethics law and abused her power in the Troopergate scandal, conference call with Alaska reporters, Oct. 12, 2008
- She's running for VP but cannot name a single Supreme Court case other than Roe v. Wade:
Katie Couric: "What other Supreme Court decisions do you disagree with?"
Sarah Palin: "Well, let's see. There's --of course --in the great history of America rulings there have been rulings, there's never going to be absolute consensus by every American. And there are -- those issues, again, like Roe v Wade where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So you know -- going through the history of America, there would be others but--"
Couric: "Can you think of any?"
Palin: "Well, I could think of -- of any again, that could be best dealt with on a more local level. Maybe I would take issue with. But you know, as mayor, and then as governor and even as a Vice President, if I'm so privileged to serve, wouldn't be in a position of changing those things but in supporting the law of the land as it reads today." --unable to name any Supreme Court decisions other than Roe v. Wade, CBS News interview, Oct. 1, 2008 (Watch video clip)
- She can't even tell you a newspaper she reads!
Katie Couric: "And when it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious: what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?"
Sarah Palin: "I've read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media."
Couric: "But, like, what ones specifically? I'm curious."
Palin: "All of 'em, any of 'em that have been in front of me over all these years."
Couric: Can you name a few?
Palin: "I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news too." --CBS News interview, Oct. 1, 2008 (Watch video clip)
- Her running mate was trying to push himself as a proponent of regulation (after spending a career fighting regulation) and Palin could not name a SINGLE instance in which McCain fought for stronger regulation:
"I'll try to find you some and I'll bring them to you." --Sarah Palin, asked by Katie Couric to cite specific examples of how John McCain has pushed for more regulation in his 26 years in the Senate, CBS News interview, Sept. 24, 2008 (Watch video clip)
- She has no foreign policy experience:
"Well, it certainly does because our -- our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia ... We have trade missions back and forth. We-- we do-- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where-- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is-- from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to-- to our state." --Sarah Palin, asked by Katie Couric how Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience, CBS News interview, Sept. 24, 2008 (Watch video clip)
- She has abused her power in her various offices (other than Troopergate):
"I'm the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can't.'" --Sarah Palin, as quoted by former City Council Member Nick Carney, after he raised objections about the $50,000 she spent renovating the mayor's office without approval of the city council
- SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE JOB OF THE VICE PRESIDENT IS AFTER RUNNING FOR THE OFFICE FOR SEVEN WEEKS!:
"That's something that Piper would ask me! ... [T]hey’re in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom." --Sarah Palin, getting the vice president's constitutional role wrong after being asked by a third grader what the vice president does, interview with NBC affiliate KUSA in Colorado, Oct. 21, 2008
AAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.......................................
Speaking of Palin not knowing what the VP's job is, here's more about that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JFiSORtP4M
If she doesn't know what the job is and CONTINUES to get it wrong, HOW CAN SHE POSSIBLY BE ALLOWED TO HAVE THE JOB!!!!
.......................................
What else?
- Well, she's anti-people's individual rights as she's against abortion and gay rights.
- She still has not done ONE press conference since becoming the Republican VP candidate.
- She rarely does an interview and, when she does, has nothing insightful or meaningful to say, continuing to stammer through her senseless sentences and using standard Republican template. Can you say "that", "also", "reform", and "maverick"?
- She's taken to the lowest common denominator, becoming the Republican attack dog, accusing Obama of palling around with terrorists, pushing socialism, and continuing to ignore the hateful comments being made at her rallies without any comments or condemnations about them.
- She can't handle questions from the media. If she gets a question she's not prepared for, she either gives a meaningless answer, avoids the question completely and talks about something else (like she did at the VP debate), or doesn't give an answer at all. Then she blames the media for it!
Let me ask you this... she's sitting at a table with other world leaders and someone asks her a question about something she's not prepared for or doesn't know about. How does it reflect on our country if she stammers her way through an answer like she has with the press? Will she start spouting boilerplate about mavericks, reform, terrorists, hockey moms, and all the other junk that her and McCain say? That's not going to work with world leaders. It's not going to work when we have a crisis and she doesn't know how to react. That's not going t work when real decisions need to be made. And I don't think she's capable of that thinking. - She claimed there were "pro-American" parts of the country and that certain areas are "real". Inferring there that there are parts of the country that are anti-American... presumably people who aren't voting Republican this fall. Is this the kind of divisive thought process we want in the White House? Shouldn't our leaders be uniting us, not picking who is for them and who is against?
- She's been against her running mate on several issues including:
- She favors oil drilling in ANWR, McCain is against
- She said she disagrees with robocalls
- She wanted to keep going after Michigan after McCain bailed there
- They disagree on an gay marriage ban amendment (McCain's against, Palin is for)
- Palin is COMPLETELY anti-abortion while McCain makes exceptions
- She thinks the campaign should talk about Rev. Wright, against McCain's wishes
- She thinks North Korea should be removed from the terrorist list while McCain does not
- She said she thinks we should go into Pakistan if needed (like Obama says) against McCain's position
And those are just the samples I can think of off the top of my head!
Congratulations, John! You managed to pick a running mate who doesn't agree with you! Good luck getting her to push your agenda!
Considering her poor performance so far in interviews, the debate, and anywhere she cannot read a prepared statement or speech provided to her, it's obvious that she is not prepared to take on the position of Vice President of this country.
Her comments about what the role of the Vice President is, where she seems to think she'll be involved with the Senate defining laws and legislation, shows that she, first, doesn't know what the VP role is, and, second, is VERY power hungry and is a dangerous person to put into a position of establishing national policy. She seems to think that if she gets this position that people are just going to bend to her will and that she's going to define how our country is going to work. How scary is that?
The selection of Sarah Palin was ill-conceived. It was done to pander to women, Hillary Clinton supporters, to try to win their votes. It was decided off the cuff and was not thoroughly though through. McCain barely knew here! And it's been awful decision. If the Republicans wanted to pick a woman, there were infinitely more qualified people they could have picked. Condeleeza Rice and Christie Todd-Whitman come to mind and at least could have given some heft to McCain's campaign.
But let me ask you this: What does Sarah Palin add to John McCain's ticket? What weaknesses does she cover? What, energy? I've seen and heard nothing from her to make me believe that she has any real expertise in this area.
You can't say that Joe Biden doesn't have plenty of pertinent experience in a plethora of different areas that cannot do anything but add to the Democratic ticket. He shores up some of Obama's weaknesses, particularly the glaring one with foreign policy, which was one of the biggest concerns about him. It can't be now!
So Biden will cover for and advise Obama in some areas where he's not so strong. I have no faith that Palin can advise McCain on anything. And I also believe that for any areas where Obama has a weakness, he'll learn about them, as opposed to McCain who's been in Congress for decades but also admitted he doesn't understand the economy, which is the NUMBER ONE issue in this election:
“The issue of economics is something that I’ve really never understood as well as I should.” (John McCain in the Boston Globe, 12/18/07)
So after all those years as a Congressman, he didn't have the curiosity or think it was necessary to learn about the economy?
In any case, I've gotten off track...
Sarah Palin is a disaster. She can't speak. She can't think. She can't give a coherent thought, unless it's an attack on Obama provided to her by her campaign handlers. She offers NOTHING to this country if she becomes VP except for the possibility of her becoming President if McCain were to become incapacitated in some form (a realistic possibility) and putting this country in the scary position of having her rule over the United States of America. Can you imagine that? Say goodbye to your rights! It's the Palin way from now on!
Please don't let that happen. Don't even let the POSSIBILITY of that happen. We cannot afford it.
Vote Obama.
............................................
Well, I had no idea where I'd go tonight. It appears I went off on a Palin rant. But it needed to be said. The woman is an AWFUL VP choice. She has NO idea what she's doing and would be a nightmare as VP of this country. Let alone President, if that were to ever happen.
Please vote Obama so this does not happen. Don't let Sarah Palin get that power or even close to it. It would be a disaster for this country Thank you.
