OK, I'm sure Sarah Palin is not a bad mom... at least pretty sure. At least I'm going to give her that much credit. But what she did to her kids the other night I thought was pretty appalling.
Saturday night Palin dropped the first puck at the Philadelphia Flyers season opener. Now, I live in the Philadelphia area. I grew up around here. If there's one thing I know about this town, it's a Democratic town. I think the last five mayors in Philadelphia going back something like 30 years have been Democrats. In the last mayoral election the Republicans on put up a token candidate to run against eventual landslide winner Michael Nutter because they knew they had no chance to win. So why she thought going to a sporting event where she wouldn't be surrounded by her Republican fans was a good idea, I don't know... especially with her children in tow.
I can't imagine she planned to walk onto that ice thinking that she would get a warm and fuzzy reception. She had to know better. Her handlers had to know better. And if they didn't, then they really don't know what they are doing and it's another reason not to vote for the Republican ticket.
Anyway, she walked onto the ice Saturday night in the Democratic city of Philadelphia with two of her daughters following her. And the boos rained down.
My question is: why would Palin expose her children to that? I'm sure for them, at first, it seemed neat to go to a hockey game and get to go on the ice. But then they had to stand there and listen as their mother was booed. Badly. What can that do to a child? And why, as their mother, wouldn't Palin think ahead and not put her children in that position? To have to hear their mother being booed?
I just don't get that. I would never put my children in a position like that. Never. Taking them to a Republican rally, where you're very likely to be cheered is one thing. But taking them into a potentially hostile environment to me is just wrong. And not very good parenting.

From reading that, unless you are really rich, there's no reason you should be voting for John McCain. And since the majority of Americans are not... well... you know...
